About the Role
- Provide telephone triage support to patients and caregivers using compassion, professionalism, and sound clinical judgment.
- Assess patient symptoms and determine the urgency and appropriate level of care based on established clinical protocols.
- Provide appropriate home-care guidance and escalate patients to a physician, clinic visit, or emergency care when necessary.
- Schedule appointments and place outbound follow-up calls as needed.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, physicians, and other members of the healthcare team.
- Maintain accurate documentation and protect the confidentiality of sensitive patient information.
- Manage multiple calls and priorities in a fast-paced clinical environment.
- Perform related duties and responsibilities as required.
Requirements
Previous experience in a Pediatric medical office is preferred or 2 years of clinical experience.
Experience with personal computer and typing skills.
Critical thinking skills.
Skill in answering the telephone in a pleasant and helpful manner.
Familiarity and ability to use Barton Schmitt and Salem Pediatric Clinic protocols.
Knowledge of NextGen preferred.
Skill in in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, employees and the public.
Ability to work with children and their families.
Ability to multi-task in a busy environment.
Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
Ability to speak clearly and concisely.
Ability to read, understand and follow oral and written instruction.
Ability to communicate effectively in a variety of situations.
